Beware the "Fad" Weight Loss Diet

Obesity is killing us, but using fad or extreme weight loss schemes may be making it worse!

Do you cringe while watching your weight and midsection grow during the holiday season? Or plug your ears when someone mentions the average American gains seven to ten pounds by the new year? While you may continue to cave to the temptations of snickerdoodles and fudge, resist the urge to Google search ‘rapid weight loss.’ It can be more unhealthy than the irresistible tray of Grandma’s cookies.

We all know effective weight loss requires a healthy, long-term lifestyle, yet we seek assistance from fad diets that promise magical results. Why? Diets are frustrating.

Close to a hundred million Americans try to slim down on an annual basis, and up to ninety-five percent of them regain the weight within five years. One third will gain back more weight than they lost. Even worse, existing health conditions may worsen.

It’s easy to spot weight loss schemes. They always promise quick and painless results. Many advocate specific techniques such as over-stressing the consumption of one type of food. Remember the Grapefruit Diet and the Cabbage Soup Diet? In the long run, these programs undermine your health, cause physical discomfort, and lead to disappointment due to a lack of permanent weight reduction. It’s a vicious cycle, one loses popularity while the next takes its place.

Stop the “yo-yoing” from one popular diet to another and stick with the fundamental principles of good nutrition. To live healthy, one must consume a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods. Sure, this sounds easier said than done while taking off the extra pounds, especially if you‘re confused about nutrition. That’s why I’ve devoted my career to helping people eat right and succeed in their weight loss journey. So, if you’re tempted to try a program that might be a fad diet, STOP RIGHT THERE! Let's spend ten minutes together on a call and figure out the right eating plan for you! #weightloss #healthyweightloss #faddiet #loseweightnow #successfulweighs
